ACO 5.0 - Image Compositing

Image Compositing is taking more than one photo and combining it into one. And make that picture have a message. These types of images are created to give a sense of awe and wonder. Because when you at first look at an image that has been composited you begin to question if whether or not that is a real image. But really its multiple images combined into one. Now a little bit about the rule of thirds. Rule of thirds is a type of guideline used in photography, to help within the process of composing visual images. How the rule of thirds should be used correctly is by placing a certain point of your image in the middle of one of the 4 crosses. How rule of thirds can be used incorrectly is knowing that your image doesn't have proper use of lead room, look room and nose room. You can make views feel uncomfortable. What professional photographers think about before taking a picture, is how they can make art out of existing space. Unlike other type of artists, photographers see art in the world around them. And to make that object look like an art piece, they move around the object and get different angles and positions.

Then, explain the strongest message you plan to communicate through your BEST composite image concept. Describe specifically how this composite image will communicate your message. What composition, angle and/or position (CAPs) are used in the photos that make up your image composite? When your audience first views your best image composite, where do you anticipate their eye will go first and why?
Through my composited images I would like

1) Embedded slideshow presentation of Digital Art and Concepts 1-3 at top.
2) Insert your BEST composite image below your first paragraph.
3) Insert your other two composite images before the tags.

ACO 5.0 - Visual Statement

For this assignment, our topic that my group decided on involved the issue on Marine pollution. To put the facts straight out, marine pollution is one of the leading causes to killing ocean life. Every year about 5 tons of straight trash and debri is pulled out of the ocean. The project goal for this assignment was to create a very well influenced 2-3 minute video explaining a issue that needs to be more taken cared of to prevent future effects. Some of the requirements that are apart of this project involve doing a AV log. With an audio script and visuals that are going to be clearly shown and  heard in the video. My partners for this project were Eden Hoaglin , Kahelelani Kanos and Benjamin Tatofi.  Eden was our writer and audio coordinator. And Kahelelani did the planning on the visuals that are going to be shown in the video. And last but not least Ben, was our support and sound track specialists.

A little bit about Final Cut Pro is that it's a website or program that allows you to do some trimming and affects to your movie that you create. Or its a way to make some adjustments and cuts some scene's out of your movie or clip. What makes the FCPX Libraries important is that, it helps the editor to store scene's somewhere safely. Now in Final Cut Pro, there is something called " audio levels ". Why would any of this be so important? Truth is, audio levels help to create of mood or feeling , or to add advancement to the plot in the movie, or even to give information to the audience. So if upon hearing my groups audio change drastically, you will know that we're giving info or setting a mood.
In my opinion, I feel the best quality clip(s) of this movie would have to be in the parts where they were all used by the Gopro. The Gopro really helped me to get some close-up clips of waves coming up to the camera lens, in which case was a very creative idea. And since the Gopro is water proof, I was able to get some filiming done underwater.

Finally, describe your biggest challenges during this project and what you did to help overcome them. Explain your group dynamic... who was the driving force toward attaining the project goal and how did the other person help or hinder that progress? Explain the most enjoyable part of this project and conclude with a reflection of your critique results... explain why you agree or disagree with them. (6 sentence minimum)

ACO 1.0 - Modern Art Movement

In this assignment me and my partner decided to go with "Abstract Expressionism". We chose this art movement because not only was it our first pick but it also seemed the most challenging. So the influence that Abstract Expressionism had on the Arts & Communications industry is that he gave different types of artists and painter and writers a new way of creating their masterpieces. How artists contributed to culture and fulfill a societal need is by showing or expressing the matter in their artwork. Artwork can be defined as pictures that express lots and lots of words. Just from looking at a famous painting or some type of artwork you can almost see that it tells a story.

1965 " Night Creatures" by: Lee Krasner
In your opinion, how have advances in technology aided or hindered the cultural impact of skilled art production?
So artists that were involved in the Abstract Expressionism movement include Jason Pollock, Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko and many more. In my personal opinion I feel that these artists where trying to achieve the purpose to show people that there are different ways to express how they create and tell a story through their paintings. I say "yes!", a single artists can persuade someones opinion or opinion about something because if the can show and explain something to that person, that affect can cause the person to realize what else is apart of whatever the had an opinion over. But it all really depends how much that artists can impact a way a person thinks about something. In my opinion, I feel that today's modern technology has hindered the cultural impact because he has somewhat pushed aside how people and artists originally created artwork.

ACO 7.0 - Workplace Safety Video

The project goal was to make a good quality and informational video on our topic, which was Avoiding Stress and Burnout. We want to try and converse our understanding of stress; ways to identify it, ways to cope with it, and ways to prevent it from affecting you. Each of us that were in the group each took a section of this project to work on. Lauren manage the Digital Portfolio, Arianna was the editor and the IMovie, and I was assigned for handling the Garage Band. In my personal opinion I feel that the one person who should get the most credit is Arianna. Why? well during this project, she was in charge of handling the IMovie, which is a pretty pressuring job. She had to edit and re-shoot certain scenes, and then combine them all together, to make it a pretty smooth movie.  But lauren also did any amazing job as well as our Digital Portfolio manager. But in the end results, I would like to give her the most credit.

The biggest "takeaway" from this project was possibly making the Workplace Safety Video, and having all the correct and accurate information in this video. What I did learn from successfully completing this project, is knowing that we gave good advice in how to Avoid Stress & Burnouts. Either by doing yoga, taking breaks, or even by organizing your work or your work space. From our critique results, I feel that it was really good. There was some really great feed-back, although there were areas that could've been a bit better. Some of those areas included our background areas. The throwing of vegetables and tea cup and tea. But other then that everything was really well done.

ACO 5.0 - Coding Altino Cars

Coding can play as an important skill to know because there might be different situations in which coding may come into play. For example if you need to get rid of a computer virus and you need to decode a code, that's where coding can and probably will come into play. Or for instance you find yourself entering the army as a computer programmer, and you need to send a secret coded message to a base somewhere, coding will also come into play in that type of situation. Although you may not decided to become a programmer in the future as a career. But having the skills of coding and background understanding of it can just be a good skill to know. So our first task was to complete Challenge #1 which a test to see if we could safely get our Altino car around the figure 8 course. But the only was to get the car to go, turn and stop, was by using coding and using the commands.
"STEERING" well, is basically which directions you want your wheels to go. "GO" was a command used to make the Altino car go a certain speed. And "DELAY" was a command used to make the car stop running the coded loop. Otherwise the car would continuously running the loop. I felt like working the process of trial and error really helped me get a better understanding of what it takes to be good at coding. Every time we made a mistake we would go back and re-look what the code was and where the error is and fix it.

Describe the new commands that were required to successfully complete Challenge #2 (While Loop, Array, Display Line, Sound). Would you ever trust an autonomous vehicle to give you a ride... please explain your answer. Do you think autonomous vehicles will be used in the future to carry out complex tasks like an ambulance responding to accidents... why or why not?

For this 2nd Challenge I was absent but, the goal for this Challenge, we were to complete an atonomous challenge was to make our car be an ambulance and make it go

ACO 3.0 - Art and Design

The Elements of Art that are used in my digital Still Life painting we're Line, Value & Texture. Line helps to outline your image. Basically like tracing. Value adds a sense of depth to your image. Or it can have an affect on making your image look realistic. And last but not least Texture, added shadows and line patches to the image. So with all those Elements of Art are used in my Still Life painting, the end result made my image POP! The relationships between the sizes of my texture brush and controlling the value scale of your image is that both should make your chosen image, look like its been drawn by hand. The smaller the brush the brush the more your image will look lighter and have more detail. The bigger the brush the more your image will have less detail and have a darker affect to it. From doing this project I feel, in my own personal opinion, that's it probably been the best project so far. It's definitely given me a better understanding on how the photo shop works and how digital media is really useful and helpful. But the parts that we had to go through all those steps just to make the image look like a pencil drawing, I feel like that was probably the most challenging.

My Landscape image was taken at Kalihiwai lookout. I decided to take my landscape image here because the sunset was amazing and it was my only option for this assignment. Well just from looking at my Still image and my Landscape image, I can really notice that I definitely spent a lot more time on working with my Landscape image. My Still image does show Line, Value & Texture,  but my Landscape image shows a lot more of these Elements of Art because I decided to put more effort and patience into this image. So what I can definitely learn from looking at these two photos is that one clearly shows Texture, Line & Value and the other not as much. And maybe next time, stay a little bit ahead of my game and really put some more effort and Elements into my Still image so it can come out just as well as my Landscape image. My technique of creating a pencil related drawing by using a computer, I feel like I did pretty good for starter's and that maybe over time as I get better, I can possibly go into more advanced projects that has to do with more Elements of Art.

So finally for my Portrait image I decided to use my younger sister " Nanea " because, to be honest, I didn't really want to be looking at my face for this section of the Art & Design. And plus she has a really challenging complexion so that's why I decided to use her as my Portrait image. My photo of my sister was taken by our wooden fence because I though it added a fairly nice background. And with the perfect timing of the sunrise shining on her face, I just thought it would add the perfect combination of texture and value to the image.
In my personal opinion, I didn't realize that a lot of people would give me a 2 for my Landscape photo as well as my Portrait photo. I feel like I did pretty well on my Landscape photo, but by the looks of my critique I didn't do as well. Also what I pointed out is that my Portrait and Still life were about 3/4 of the way done. I did start to feel like I was kinda behind in this project. But I also felt like a gave a lot of patience and effort into trying to make all 3 of these pictures look like a pencil drawing. But overall, I'm a bit of both. I do agree and I don't agree with what my critique results came out to. In addition to this possibly the next time I get an assignment in this type of area, maybe I can stay with the class or even work a little more forward.
